Last-minute summer vacations to enjoy in Michigan

Travel expert shares three getaway ideas

It’s not too late for a last-minute summer getaway, and there’s a new tool to help you plan your next adventure.

MyMichiganBeach.com has a new interactive Michigan travel and beach map.

“We’ve taken everything Michigan travel, whether it’s beautiful beaches, small towns to explore road trips, wineries, breweries, points of interest, natural wonders, and put it all in one map,” said Jill Halpin, the founder of MyMichiganBeach.com. “So all someone has to do is go ahead and click on that map, and you’ll get a personal travel guide curated by people who love Michigan, like myself and our other staff.”

While appearing on “Live In The D”, Halpin shared three suggestions for Michigan adventures. She started with a place that’s filled with wine options -- Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City.

“It’s an 18-mile peninsula that juts out into Grand Traverse Bay. You’ll find rolling hills, you’ve got gorgeous views, there’s a lighthouse, and there’s also wineries. One of my favorite wineries, the luxurious Chateau Chantal is there,” Halpin said.

If you’re trying to avoid the crowds, Halpin suggests heading to Oscoda. She called it a great, family-friendly spot.

Another suggestion from the travel expert is visiting South Haven. Halpin highlighted South Haven’s beaches, downtown area, and lighthouse.
