Treat your dog to these canine enrichment activities

You can make mealtime meaningful

August 26th is National Dog Day, so why not treat your furry friends to some fun canine enrichment?

AnnMarie Chamberlain from Michigan Humane shared some suggestions for turning mealtime into enrichments, such as putting your dog’s food in a hollow, fillable Kong. She explained that you can also add peanut butter.

“It’s just a really good way to get your dog’s brain working because it’s just as important that their brains are working as much as their bodies are, so this is like going for a run with their brain,” AnnMarie said.

AnnMarie said you might need to scale back on your dog’s regular food a little it if you’re adding in peanut butter. You can freeze it to make it last even longer.

Another option is to put peanut butter on a frisbee, AnnMarie explained. She said the licking can help to calm a dog.

While appearing on “Live In The D,” AnnMarie also introduced an adoptable puppy named Crystal Lake who is around two months old.
