A Macomb County tradition returns this weekend with the 94th Romeo Peach Festival.
The festival originally started out in 1931 as a way to celebrate the end of the peach harvest and to give an economic boost to the community, explained Daniel Patrona, the Vice President of the Romeo Beach Festival.
Starting with a humble beginning decades ago, the festival has grown into a thriving festival. From food vendors to a midway with carnival rides and live music, the event offers fun for all ages.
The “Beers Around the World” experience serves up more than 100 varieties of beer from craft to imports and domestics.
In addition to the fun, the Romeo Peach Festival is an opportunity to give back to the community and local organizations. One of the festival’s key beneficiaries is Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Meanwhile, classic cars are in the spotlight at the Patrick L. Rinke Memorial Car Show as car enthusiasts compete to win trophies with proceeds benefiting the Romeo Lions Club.
The Romeo Peach Festival runs Aug. 28th through Labor Day.
