Getting your varsity letter is a milestone moment in a high school athlete’s life. Naturally, this accomplishment will want to be displayed and that’s why letterman jackets have been a long-standing tradition.
Art Knitting Mills, located in Farmington Hills, has been creating one-of-a-kind varsity jackets since 1930. “We make dreams come true,” said Sami Cekaj, Owner and Operator of Art Knitting Mills.
Two years ago, Cekaj and his wife Heather, took over the business, continuing on the tradition of it being family-run. Cekaj said they are all about tradition, including using a method to create the jackets that’s been around for decades. “Chainstitching, which is something we still do by hand,” he said. All of their jackets are custom made for each individual student. They walk the customer through the process every step of the way.
