Bringing home a new pet is an exciting time, but how do you make it a smooth start? Lidia Vesterfelt from Michigan Humane joined Tati and Blaine on “Live In The D” to share tips on how to welcome a new furry friend.
Accompanying her was FitzWilliam Darcy, a 3 1/2-month-old kitten.
Lidia said the coming-home process for a new pet can be quite stressful and suggested taking it slow.
“The first couple of days or weeks maybe just having a specific room in your house for them to stay in for a little bit,” said Lidia.
She recommended having all your pet supplies ready before your pet arrives and to introduce them to a lot of people, but not at once - you want them socialized but not overwhelmed.
