Downtown Birmingham is in full holiday mode, offering a festive mix of shopping, dining, and seasonal events that make it a standout destination this time of year.
“Downtown Birmingham is such a unique place to be during the holidays,” said Sheri Hunter, marketing and PR specialist for the Birmingham Shopping District. “It’s fun, festive, and with over 100 national and local retailers, there’s just such a variety.” From stocking stuffers at Paper Source and cozy winter essentials to luxury linens, robes, children’s apparel, toys, home décor, and menswear staples, Hunter said the district’s “small specialty stores are the stars.”
The Birmingham Shopping District is one of the Live in the D sponsors who helped make the show’s “Days of Giving” contest possible. Five total winners each won a $500 gift card because of the generosity of sponsors like BSD.
Beyond browsing the boutiques, Birmingham offers more than 60 restaurants ranging from fast casual to fine dining. “We are known for our restaurants,” Hunter said. “In addition to dining, after you do all your shopping, there’s also events that are taking place — and the downtown is lit with lights.”
Seasonal favorites include visits with Santa at Santa House and horse-drawn carriage rides, along with weekend surprises such as free roasted chestnuts, churros, and hot chocolate while supplies last. “You can look at our website to find the days and times,” That website is: downtownbirmingham.com.
