Multiple holiday celebrations happening this weekend

List of events happening in metro Detroit Dec. 12-14

The weather may be cold in Detroit, but the events are heating up. With the weekend upon us, here’s a list of fun happenings this weekend in and around the city.

-(New Michigan Science Center Planetarium opening)- The Planetarium Theater received an upgrade. The renovation will feature 8k digital projection, advanced NanoSeam dome, and more. The Planetarium opens to the public Friday. Address: 5020 John R. St., Detroit, MI.

-(Holidays at Ford House)- The indoor and outdoor event features, live carolers, timeless holiday decor, and more. There will also be the “Mistletoe Market,” featuring pop up shops, fire pits, treats, and beverages.

Thursdays through Sundays until December 21st. Address: 1100 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Shores.

-(DCA Kwanzaa Celebration) A full production Kwanzaa Celebration, featuring drum and dance, poetry, live music, storytelling, and more, created and performed by students at Detroit School of Arts.

Friday, 7 p.m. at DCA Ford Theater. Address: 123 Selden St., Detroit.

-(Detroit Youth Choir, Holiday Concert)- The choir will present “Soulful Holiday: A Celebration of the King,” with a high-energy performance.

Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church located at 2080, West Grand Blvd. Detroit.

-(Menorah in the D)- In celebration of Hanukkah, Campus Martius will host a lighting the Menorah, featuring festive fun like crafts, treats, live entertainment and more.

Sunday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Campus Martius, Downtown Detroit.
