The internationally acclaimed Champions of Magic tour will bring new illusions, big-stage production and holiday spirit to the Fox Theatre on Dec. 21.
Billed as a team-driven showcase, the production features magicians performing together for most of the show — with pyrotechnics, lighting and large-scale effects designed for all ages.
“If you’ve ever seen us before, this is probably about 80% an entirely new show,” said Richard Young during an appearance on Live in the D. “It’s also completely spectacular — huge production, pyrotechnics, lights, et cetera — so it’s a really exciting show for the entire family.”
The tour has crisscrossed North America since first arriving from the United Kingdom in 2017 and returns with a slate of reimagined classics and original set pieces. The Fox Theatre’s ornate backdrop is part of the draw for the performers.
“Americans love magic, and also we get to go to so many incredible jewel historic theaters across the United States that we would have never seen otherwise,” said Liberty Larsen, who also appeared on Live in the D. “And the Fox is maybe one of the most beautiful ones we’ve ever seen in our lives.”
Champions of Magic emphasizes collaboration onstage; a format the performers say sets it apart from solo-driven magic shows. The tour is positioned as a holiday outing for families and fans of large-scale illusions.
