Metro Detroit weather: Weather turning up heat and humidity, Sunday afternoon
Sweltering weather leads to a chance of showers and storms, Monday. The afternoon will see temperatures top 90 degrees with heat indices near 95 degrees. Detroit police suspect foul play in the death of a missing teen
DETROIT – The 19-year old was last seen on June 21st and his family began their own search to bring him home. Detroit Police tell us they do suspect foul play. Family finds missing mans body behind vacant Detroit home
DETROIT A missing man was found dead behind a vacant home on Detroits east side Friday night, police say. Police say the victim is 19-year-old Darius Jones, Jr. He went missing Sunday, JuneHis family found his body near the home on Elmdale near Conner and Harper. Foul play is suspected in the death. Michigan drivers face new insurance choice starting Thursday
LANSING, Mich. Michigan drivers who renew or buy car insurance face a choice starting Thursday: stick with unlimited medical coverage, go with less or -- for seniors with Medicare -- opt out entirely. Such lawsuits are expected to rise since fewer people will have unlimited medical. Fox said concerns that higher bodily injury coverage would completely negate PIP savings have not been borne out. Someone with unlimited medical and the default bodily injury coverage, for example, will still save about 10%, according to state data. The state said calls to its auto insurance hotline are up tenfold from May.

Suspect arrested in Canada after shining laser at CBP helicopter in Detroit
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter was struck by a laser beam Wednesday, interfering with the operations it was conducting protests in Detroit. According to authorities, the crew was flying near the Renaissance Center when they detected their aircraft was being targeted by a green laser. The crew temporarily ceased operations, contacted the Windsor Ontario Control Tower to report the incident and kept their cameras on the person who shined the laser until Windsor Police took the person into custody. The CBP is reminding residents that lasers present a very serious risk to aviator safety and while owning a laser pointer isnt illegal, shining it into a cockpit of an aircraft is a federal crime. According to the FAA, laser pointers can potentially damage sensitive equipment and flash blind a pilot.
Man arrested, accused of driving at Detroit police during protest
A 36-year-old Southfield man has been arrested while accused of driving at Detroit police officers during a protest on Friday. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the incident Friday, May 29 at 9 p.m. in the area of Griswold and West Fort streets in Detroit. It’s alleged John Antoine Holliman saw two uniformed Detroit police bicycle officers and drove directly at them, causing them to ride onto the sidewalk to escape harm. After a short chase he pulled into a gas station in the area of Central Avenue and West Vernor where he was arrested, police said. He was arraigned Monday evening in 36th District Court and received a $15,000/10% bond.

Bridge construction to close part of I-94 in Detroit this weekend
detroit - A busy part of I-94 in Detroit will be closed this weekend as crews work on setting beams for bridges. Crews will be setting more than 20 beams, which will require closing westbound I-94 from Conner Road M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and eastbound I-94 from I-75 to Conner Road for the weekend. During this closure, westbound through-traffic will be advised to take westbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road) to southbound I-75, then westbound I-96 back to westbound I-94. Westbound I-94 will remain open to Conner Road for local access. Eastbound traffic will be detoured north on I-75 to eastbound M-102 and back to eastbound I-94.
