Put your citrus fruit knowledge to the test

You might love to eat oranges or grapefruits, but just how much do you know about citrus fruits?

Local 4 Lifestyle Editor Jon Jordan did his research, and then put “Live In The D” hosts Tati Amare and Kim DeGiulio to the test.

Jon shared that the mandarin, the citron, and the pomelo are the three main branches of the citrus family. He explained that other citrus fruits are actually hybrids.

“So you take a pomelo and a mandarin and eventually you will get a sweet orange out of it,” Jon said.

The conversation was spurred by the fact that growing season ended months ago in Michigan, but it’s starting to peak in the warmer climates further south.
