Health and Soul Cafe serves balance by the gallon

Hazel Park spot touts fresh juices, herbal teas and more

Aiming to keep New Year health goals on track, Health and Soul Cafe spotlighted its fresh-pressed juices, herbal teas and pescetarian, vegan and vegetarian dishes during Live in the D Takeout Tuesday segment.

“We’re the only place in Michigan that does fresh juice gallons,” said Zaikha Kayloni of Health and Soul Cafe, noting favorites like green cucumber–spinach–green apple, pineapple–carrot–ginger–apple, hibiscus tea and beet–pomegranate. A summertime top seller, watermelon lemonade, is also available by the gallon out of season.

The cafe began with herbal teas inspired by natural healing, Kayloni said, pointing to burdock root, wormwood and dandelion root among options customers order hot or cold. On the food side, the menu ranges from a salmon pita and salmon “Philly” sliders to salads and a Biscoff banana crunch flatbread made with cookie butter, sliced bananas, Biscoff cookies and honey. “We believe in balance,” Kayloni said, adding cheesecake cups and other sweets help guests stay on track without giving up treats entirely.

Health and Soul Cafe will host a Lip Gloss Fragrance Experience on Feb. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m., teaching young entrepreneurs how to make fragrance body oils, lip glosses and lipsticks. Tickets are available via Wealthy Skin Shop and on Eventbrite.

Health and Soul Cafe is located at 21670 John R Road, Hazel Park, MI 48030.
