Show women’s heart health some love

Fitness and nutrition expert Jody Trierweiler shares ways to prevent and reverse heart disease

Heart disease continues to be a leading killer for women, but there are plenty of ways to prevent or, in some cases, reverse the issue.

Fitness and nutrition expert Jody Trierweiler brought her health knowledge to discuss the facts of heart disease and how you can fight it off to live a more enjoyable life.

Jody explained that more than 60 million women in the United States have heart disease, making up 44% of them in the country’s population. Most women are completely unaware of this issue, despite it being the number one leading killer, with only 50% aware.

Flying under the radar, it continues to affect the lives of females all across the U.S., but it doesn’t have to be that way.

About 150 minutes of exercise per week for women can bring the risk of heart disease down 22%. Exercising can benefit women’s hearts much more significantly than it can for men, Jody shared.

The key women should strive for when working out, according to Jody, is doing it vigorously. Just doing a little under four minutes of vigorous exercise a day can make you 44% less likely to have had a major cardiovascular event.
