Northville Beauty Spa is highlighting minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, including Botox and dermal fillers, aimed at clients from their early 20s to their 80s.
“It relaxes muscle movement, so when the muscles are not moving as much and you’re not forming these, these contractions of the muscle, you improve deeper lines,” said Dr. James Bazzi, M.D., medical director for Northville Beauty Spa, describing how Botox works.
Bazzi said Botox can be appropriate for a wide range of adults. “Anyone over the age of 21 is a good candidate because Botox is preventative,” he said. “We want to prevent these lines from forming. If they do form, it takes a little more regular treatment to get them to reverse and sometimes additional treatments. Everyone is a candidate, but we just have to be realistic with the results.”
Downtime is minimal, Bazzi added. “So there really isn’t much downtime,” he said. “When patients come in, they have bumps on their face for maybe 20 or 30 minutes. … Other than just maybe very slight bruising which may occur, there really isn’t downtime.” Patients typically see early Botox results within days, with peak effect in about two weeks.
The clinic also offers dermal fillers, which Bazzi said address volume loss rather than muscle activity. “It’s something that we use to replace volume,” he said. “For example, if we are trying to reinflate the cheeks … we can place filler to basically reinflate those areas.” He noted candidates range from “younger patients … in their mid to late 20s” seeking subtle lip or facial enhancement to “someone older … in their 50s, 60s, even 70s who has lost fat over time.”
