Matrix Basement Finishing is set to transform one of WDIV’s auxiliary studio spaces, and Matrix Vice President of Production Nate Keller says the vision is already taking shape.
“We just want to create a comfortable space,” said Keller. He envisions the finished studio featuring acoustical wall panels, a quartz countertop bar, and an electric fireplace - with “having a flexible space that you guys can use” as the driving design principle.
The company, which focuses exclusively on basement finishing, has built its reputation on proprietary products like the Matrix Forever Wall. “We have our own wall system we call the Matrix Forever Wall. It’s a combination of metal studs, spray foam insulation, and Purple Board. It’s the most moisture-proof wall system on the market, we feel,” Keller said.
That laser focus on basements is by design. “That’s all we do is basements, so we can focus on it every day,” he said, adding that “every component that we put in the basement is going to be conducive to working down there.”
For homeowners intimidated by the prospect of a basement renovation, Keller says the company’s approach starts with education. “We like to go out to people’s homes and kind of educate them on that,” he said. Matrix aims to “be the leader in technology and kind of the newest things and trends in basement technology.”
