National Pet Fire Safety Day is July 15, so it’s the perfect time to make sure your furry friends are included in your family’s fire safety plan.
Michigan Humane highlighted the importance of having an evacuation plan ready.
It’s important to remember that pets can also start fires too. Michigan Humane suggests considering adding stove knob covers to keep pets from accidentally turning on the stove if they’re looking for food.
Another warning is to keep candles away from pets so that a wagging tail doesn’t accidentally knock over the candle.
Michigan Humane also encourages pet parents to check on electric cords in your home since chewed cords can lead to fires.
If you’re thinking about adopting a pet, watch the video above to meet a kitten named Ziploc who is looking for his forever home.
