The Detroit Historical Museum is celebrating 75 years of preserving the stories, people, and moments that shaped our city.
The museum is holding a free Block Party until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 24.
The celebration at the Detroit Historical Museum includes music, vintage cars that represent the decades, activities for kids, and beyond.
“We are asking folks to fill out a postcard that is a message to future Detroiters that will be included in a time capsule,” said Detroit Historical Society President & CEO Elana Rugh.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday, July 25 with a Dock Party at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle.
Saturday’s event will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be everything from knot tying classes to ice cream trucks, Rugh explained.
“It is such a special time to reflect on where we’ve been and also really think about where we’re going as a city,” she said.
