Families to receive backpacks at community event happening at ‘The Aretha’ Aug. 28

Free resources help students/families prepare for school year

As families get ready to head back to school, the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater is helping students start the year off strong. Organizers are putting on the “Back to School, Send-Off” event.

Families will have the chance to come together with other community members for free backpacks, community resources, and a financial wellness workshop from Chase Bank. Rashid Mausi, Brand and Marketing Director for The Right Productions, appeared on Live in the D to speak about what it means for the event to be held at this venue. “At the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater, it is ingrained in the charter of the actual building to do free and low-cost events so that the community has access to that space.”

The “Back-to-school Send Off” is happening Friday, August 28, 3 p.m. till 5 p.m.
