Dog swimming safety tips for the holiday weekend

The dog days of summer aren’t over just yet, and if you’re looking to take your pup for a late-summer swim, there are some steps you can take to help keep your furry friend safe.

Michigan Humane shared some advice:

• A life jacket can provide buoyancy to help keep your pup afloat.
• Provide frequent water breaks with fresh water to prevent dogs from drinking chemicals in pools or bacteria in lakes.
• Rinse your dog off and clean their ears after a swim to prevent infections or irritation.
