Frankenmuth is rolling out its busiest fall and holiday season yet, with Oktoberfest already underway and a new sports complex on the horizon, chamber officials said.
“It’s a very festive, fun weekend in Frankenmuth,” said Jamie Furbush, president of the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce, of the Oktoberfest kickoff. Furbush said Hofbräuhaus of America sent a representative to the keg tapping and will mark 30 years supplying beer to the festival next year.
Beyond the festivities, Furbush said the town is breaking ground on a new multipurpose sports facility topping 100,000 square feet, designed for volleyball, basketball, pickleball, wrestling and cheerleading. “It’s going to be a great experience for families in this area,” Furbush said during an appearance on Live in the D.
Fall foliage and the holiday season remain major draws, according to Malerie Countegan, sales and marketing director for the chamber. “Fall is beautiful in Frankenmuth. Just the leaves changing downtown,” Countegan said.
The town’s holiday appeal centers on its Christmas store and Main Street light displays, Countegan said. “It’s super special. I mean, we have the world’s largest Christmas store,” she said, adding that travelers should book soon. “I would start right now.”
Furbush agreed the holiday spirit is already building. “Never too early for Christmas,” she said.
