Homeowners facing an aging roof may not need to jump straight to a full replacement, according to Justin Lipchik, owner of Revive My Roof, who says a process called roof rejuvenation can restore shingles instead of tearing them out.
The treatment replaces oils that have dried out of asphalt shingles over time with a plant-based alternative. “We’re replacing the dried-out petrochemical oil on the shingles with an all-natural soy oil. So safe for people, pets, and for the ecosystem,” Lipchik said during an appearance on Live in the D.
Cost is one of the biggest draws for homeowners considering the option. “Up to 80% of replacing a roof,” Lipchik said when asked how much the treatment could save compared with a full tear-off.
He added that the process can be repeated over time to keep stretching a roof’s usable life. “It kicks the can down the road, and most homes can be treated up to three times. So, it could get you another 15 years on the roof that you already have,” Lipchik said.
Each application is backed by a warranty and ongoing inspections. “Each treatment comes with a 5-year flexibility warranty, and we actually come back annually to inspect the roof and make sure that everything’s safe and sound for you,” Lipchik said.
Lipchik also addressed concerns from homeowners with children and pets. “Yeah, it’s an all-natural bio-oil. It’s a soy oil, so it can’t hurt anything. All the allergens in soy are actually in the husk, not in the oil,” he said.
