Panera to pay out $2M in settlement over delivery prices

Panera could owe you money. Here’s how to check if you’re eligible.

The fast-casual cafe restaurant chain agreed to a $2 million settlement in a class action lawsuit related to food delivery customers between Oct. 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021 -- so think pandemic food delivery.

The lawsuit brought on by a group of customers alleged Panera’s delivery fees and menu prices were false of misleading. Panera denies the claims, but decided to settle anyway. The settlement still needs to be approved, with a court date set for May, but the third-party firm in charge of distribution is taking claims.

Does Panera owe you money?

You’re eligible to file a claim in this settlement if:

  • All persons who placed an order for delivery on the Panera App and/or the Panera Website between October 1, 2020, and August 31, 2021.

If you received an email , then Panera’s records indicate that you are a possible claimant who may be entitled to receive a compensation.

The deadline for submitting a Claim Form is June 10, 2024.

How much could Panera customers get?

Eligible members can opt to claim vouchers or cash.

Up to $2 million in vouchers for one free item from Panera’s “Soups & Mac” menu will be made available for members opting to receive vouchers. Those opting for vouchers “shall receive up to two (2) vouchers within sixty (60) days of the effective date for one free item from Panera’s “Soups & Mac” menu, valued for purposes of calculating Settlement caps at $19 per claimant (or $9.50 per voucher) for the two vouchers.”

Members opting for cash settlement “shall receive a cash payment up to $12 within sixty (60) dates of the effective date.”
