36th District Court Judge Found Dead
Detroit Police Investigating George A. Chatman's Death
DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating the death of a 36th District Court judge who was found dead Friday in his home on the city's east side.
George A. Chatman was found by officers responding to a 911 call at a home on Glenwood Street at Reno Avenue.
Police have not said how Chatman died. Sources told Local 4 his death is likely not a homicide, but a cause of death has not yet been determined.
"We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. We have no further information at this time," the court said in a statement.
Chatman was appointed in December 2010. He is a graduate of Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University.
