Local 4 News Anchor

Lauren Campbell-Sanders, weekend morning anchor on Local 4 News and a native Detroiter, graduated from Renaissance High School and the University of Michigan. She also attended Wayne State University's Law School.

Lauren started her television news career at Channel 20 WXON anchoring and producing news updates. She then interned in the newsroom at WDIV, and parlayed that role into a position as a writer for the 5 and 6 o'clock newscasts. Her tenacity and hard work ethic led to a successful audition for an anchoring position on Local 4 News Morning weekend edition.

After anchoring the weekend morning newscast for several years, Lauren's family life blossomed with her marriage to her longtime sweetheart, Hall of Famer and former Detroit Lion, Barry Sanders. When her first son was about to be born, Lauren took a hiatus from the news to focus fully on family life. The two have 3 sons and Lauren is a step-mom to Barry's son, making for a busy and eventful life. She is a dedicated and nurturing mother to her 3 young boys.

Lauren believes in chopping most of the organic ingredients for her family's meals and making the invitations for her family's get-togethers and birthday parties.. making classic chicken and dumplings from scratch and letting her boys help roll out the dough is a family favorite to make and eat. You'll find her channel's set to NPR, PBS's "Charlie Rose," and HBO's series "In Treatment" and of course all of NBC's newscasts.

She has a passion for sharing some of her parenting knowledge with other parents and she makes time to speak at women's shelters in an effort to reach out to mothers who often have few resources. That passion reaches across the globe to the shores of Africa where Lauren, and a group of 5 other American women, support women and their families through an effort coordinated by Lauren.
