Obama nominates Wayne County judge for federal court

DETROIT – President Barack Obama on Thursday nominated Wayne County Circuit Judge Gershwin Drain to serve on the U.S. District Court in Detroit.
Drain has worked as a Wayne County judge since 1997. He would replace retired Bernard Friedman.

"Judge Gershwin A. Drain will bring an unwavering commitment to fairness and judicial integrity to the federal bench," Obama said in a news release. "His impressive legal career is a testament to the kind of thoughtful and diligent judge he will be on the U.S. District Court. I am honored to nominate him today."
