Westland man charged in ex-wife's death

Benjamin Yee, 46, is charged with first-degree, premeditated murder, felony firearm and felonious assault. Police said Yee shot and killed his ex-wife on Dec. 4 afternoon at a home in the 9400 block of Gilman Street.

LIVONIA, Mich. – Livonia police said Wednesday a memorial fund has been set up for the daughter of a woman murdered earlier this week.

Benjamin Yee, 46, is charged with first-degree, premeditated murder, felony firearm and felonious assault. Police said Yee shot his ex-wife, Courtney Lynn Johnson, Sunday afternoon at a home in the 9400 block of Gilman Street.

She was found dead in her vehicle parked in the driveway. She had multiple gunshot wounds.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the couple's 11-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting.
