AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – An Auburn Hills man who once ran for City Council was arrested Friday for cocaine possession at a bar in Rochester Hills.
Keith Stonehouse is vice president at Franklin Title Agency in Rochester Hills.
He has been involved in the Auburn Hills Boys and Girls Club since he was a child. In fact, the club has his name etched on its wall of fame. He was named outstanding citizen in 1993 and outstanding volunteer in 2006-07.
Since his arrest, the club has removed Stonehouse from his position as a volunteer coach.
"He understood that was something that the Boys and Girls Club had to do, you know, based on the situation," said Mike Brown, director of the club.
Brown has known Stonehouse for more than 10 years.
"He just said it's unfortunate and that he feels that it will be resolved in his favor," Brown said.
Stonehouse did not return Local 4's request for comment.
"It's very shocking to me because he has been an outstanding person here at the Boys and Girls club," Brown said.
Stonehouse sits on the Auburn Hills Tax Increment Financing Authority and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Auburn Hills City Manager did not respond to Local 4's request to comment on whether Stonehouse's positions on those boards will change.
Auburn Hills police plan to turn the case over the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
His mug shot has not been released by police.
