Michigan companies to showcase ads during Super Bowl

Hungry Howies, Henry Ford Museum among companies that will be on-air

DETROIT – For some people, watching the actual Super Bowl may be a filler in between the commercials.

While millions of eyes will be on companies like Doritos's and Pepsi to "wow" us with new ads, a handful of Michigan companies will be hitting the big screen during the big game.

The Henry Ford Museum is just one of the local ad's you'll see on Sunday. They are highlighting their brand new exhibit, "Driving America." Museum representatives say there's no better stage to display it on.

"The Super Bowl may be the super bowl for football, but it's the super bowl for advertisers," said Henry Ford marketing director Carol Kendra. "It's kind of the story of our state and our relationship with cars packed in a 60 second ad."

Local companies in the medical field want a piece of the Super Bowl pie, including Henry Ford Health System, U of M Health System and HealthPlus out of Flint. All will be running commercials during the game.

"This is first for us. This is our effort to display our company on a bigger and bolder scale, what better way than during the Super Bowl," said Kathy Bilitzke ,of HealthPlus.

As for Hungry Howie's, they're not new to the Super Bowl scene but they will be debuting a new ad during the half-time show.

"We came out with something new and fun and we're hoping it'll be a big surprise," said Jeff Rinke, of Hungry Howie's corporate.

The pizza chain is actually airing three commercials, two in the pre-show and another during half-time.

In fact, the last commercial before the game starts is already reserved for Hungry Howie's. If you want a sneak peak of their brand new ad, you can watch it here.
