FERNDALE, Mich. – Ferndale police said they arrested an unusually high number of suspected drunken drivers this weekend.
From early Saturday morning to early Tuesday morning, police said eight people were arrested.
Three of the suspects had blood alcohol levels above 0.30.
Michigan's legal limit is 0.08.
Robert James Pittmann, 43, was arrested for having a blood alcohol level of 0.31.
Two other suspects are facing felony charges.
Police said 39-year-old Kevin Jerome Spates was arrested Monday. His blood alcohol levels were 0.34 and 0.35, police said. He has 31 current suspensions of his driver's license, four prior convictions for driving with a suspended license and two prior convictions for operating while intoxicated.
William Leonard Rhodes, 50, was arrested early Tuesday morning on Woodward Avenue. Police said his blood alcohol level was 0.33. He has 16 current suspensions of his driver's license, five prior convictions for driving with a suspended license and has three prior convictions for drunken driving.
"These are real people that present great dangers to society," said Ferndale Police Lt. Bill Wilson. "They've got to be out there drunk quite often, I would imagine."
Wilson said the men don't seem deterred by the consequences of drunken driving.
Each received $25,000 bail bonds.
