Verizon to close Southfield call center
About 750 jobs will be lost in Oakland County
DETROIT – The Southfield workforce will take a hit in the next few months because of a decision by Verizon.
The wireless service provider plans to close its Southfield call center. About 750 people work at the call center.
Verizon encourages those employees to apply for jobs elsewhere in the company and those who relocate will get financial assistance.
The company also is closing call centers in Washington and Texas.
