Man, woman convicted in shooting of 10-month-old Roseville boy
Couple accused of plotting revenge attack which left baby wounded by gunshot
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A man and a woman from Inkster face sentencing April 10 for a revenge attack on the man's ex-girlfriend that left her 10-month-old son wounded.
A Macomb County Circuit Court jury on Monday convicted 28-year-olds Kevin L. Smith and Latasha Hudson of assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. Jurors also found Smith guilty of weapons charges.
Roseville police say Phillip Mulligan was shot in the forehead Aug. 20. Authorities say Smith was angry at a paternity test that showed he was responsible for a 2 1/2-year-old girl who lived in the house of his ex-girlfriend, Angela Rankin.
Prosecutors say Hudson drove the getaway car.
Defense lawyer Mark Haddad says Smith didn't intend to kill anyone, only shoot a TV. It escaped damage.
