Man dies after car hits garbage truck head-on

Witnesses say the driver was speeding before he lost control of the vehicle


PONTIAC – One man is dead after his vehicle hit a garbage truck head-on in Pontiac.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened just before 3 Friday afternoon.

Witnesses say a black Jeep was speeding northbound on Joslyn Avenue near Brooks Avenue. The Jeep lost control and entered the southbound lanes where it collided head-on with a garbage truck.

The driver of the Jeep, a 25-year-old male resident of Maybee was transported to the hospital where he died. The driver of the garbage truck, a 41-year-old male resident of New Haven is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released.
