Man shot dead during robbery attempt of pizza deliveryman in Redford Township

Gunfire erupts just before 11 p.m. Monday night on Gaylord Street

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A would-be robber is dead after being shot during a confrontation with a pizza deliveryman in Redford Monday night.

The shooting happened just before 11 a.m. in a driveway in the 18800 block of Gaylord, which is off 7 Mile Road between Inkster and Beech Daly roads.

Jamal Mosley's sister lives in the home whose driveway turned into the shooting scene.

"My stepfather called and said my sister was hysterical. She was crying and really upset," Mosley said.

No one in the home, including Mosley's 5-year-old niece, was hurt.

Redford police aren't elaborating on whether the deliveryman was the one who actually pulled the trigger or if someone else was involved.

Police also won't release which pizza company the deliveryman worked for.

A woman who did not want to be identified told Local 4 it was her 20-year-old nephew who had been shot and killed. She said her nephew likely used the home at random to set up the delivery driver. She didn't say whether she knew if her nephew was acting alone or with someone else.
