CALEDONIA, Minn. – Three metro Detroit residents have been killed in a plane crash in Minnesota.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday. The plane had taken off earlier in the day from the Oakland-Troy airport.
A local farmer reported a possible plane in a field to police in Caledonia, Minnesota.
Upon investigation a plane was found in a harvested field. First Responders were requested immediately.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a twin engine aircraft with four passengers aboard had crashed.
Houston County Sheriff's Office confirms three fatalities.
One person critically injured was airlifted from the scene by Med Link to a La Crosse Wisconsin hospital.
Killed in the crash:
- Joel Alan Garrett, age 79, of Troy
- Dale Edward Garrett, age 49, of Berkely
- John Paul Bergeron, age 50, of Birmingham (pictured, below)
- The survivor is Joseph Samuel Stevens, age 61 of Bloomfield.

NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) have been notified and are investigating.
