Detroit mother loses 2 sons in tragic crash
16-year-old, 25-year-old Morrison brothers killed in crash on Jefferson Avenue
DETROIT – Kalen Morrison, 16, was a Cass Tech High School band member getting set for his senior year. He already had two scholarships lined up for college.
On Friday night, he was with his older brother, Keenon, who was a 25-year-old father preparing to take over the family's long-time shoe repair business in Detroit. The brothers were riding in Keenon's new Dodge Charger when the older brother lost control on Jefferson Avenue near Lycaste Street.
Both were killed in the crash.
Their mother, Kimberly Morrison, is staying incredibly strong in the face of an unthinkable tragedy.
"I don't even know how I'm doing it, I just know that am," she said.
Kimberly said she is keeping it together through her strong faith and with the support of her four sisters. She is a Detroit Public Schools teacher. With this crushing loss of her two sons, Kimberly said she will show her students her lesson in being prepared to face anything.
"I want them to see God using me, because who knows, it might be you next. How are you going to do it? You're going to get your faith in order, and you're gonna do it. This is what we have to do," she said.
