ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A former University of Michigan Health System employee has been federally charged with possessing child pornography, according to authorities.
Records show that 58-year-old Steven Germinder was indicted Wednesday on distributing, receiving and possessing child porn after thousands of pornographic images were found in his home.

According to a Health System spokesperson, Germinder worked in finance and did not work in the hospitals, nor was he involved in direct patient care.
Police searched Germinder's home after an inappropriate image of bestiality was found on his work computer by other hospital employees last May. Around 3,000 images of child porn were found in his home during the search.
According to records, when asked if child pornography would be found on his work computer, Germinder responded "I don't believe so... I don't know... No."
Police also found emails in Germinder's home that suggest he had been sharing the images with others on the internet in 2010.
