5 injured in Bloomfield Township drunk driving crash

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police say a total of five people were injured Sunday when a driver ran through a red light and hit a car going through an intersection.
The incident happened at 1:54 a.m. at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Square Lake Road. A 2008 Chevy Impala was driving northbound on Woodward Avenue and sped through a red light, hitting a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am that was going through the green light eastbound on Square Lake Road.

All four people inside the Grand Am were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Impala had minor injuries.
Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, police say.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Bloomfield Township authorities. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the Traffic Investigations Unit at 248-433-7749.
