Aerial footage: Red Wings arena construction

DETROIT – Construction of the new Detroit Red Wings arena is well underway north of downtown -- at Woodward Avenue and Interstate 75.

Here's an aerial look at progress as of Monday (July 17, 2015). The $450 million arena is expected to open in 2017.

Earlier this month, one of two historic hotels on the site -- the Park Avenue Hotel -- was imploded (watch here). The Hotel Eddystone now stands alone. The plan is to redevelop the building.
