YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that happened on campus Thursday night, according to authorities.

The attempted robbery occurred on the northeast corner of the EMU campus in Green Lot 1 around 10:45 p.m.

A student reported that he was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by a man who asked for money. A second man appeared and attempted to push the student into the trunk of his own car.

One of the men pulled out a gun and announced a robbery.

A struggle ensued, during which the gun fell apart.

The men then told the victim that the incident was a prank, picked up the pieces of the gun and walked off.

The victim told police he believed the weapon was a toy gun.

Nothing was taken from the student, and he was not injured.

The armed robbers are described as black men in their early 20s and 5 feet 7 inches tall. One man has a high top afro style haircut. The other man weighs around 200 pounds and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.
