Plea deal possible for ex-West Bloomfield camp counselor charged with child pornography

Matthew Kuppe pleaded not guilty to child porn charges

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – The trial for Matthew Kuppe was set to start this month but that date has been pushed back to March while both sides are said to be working on a plea deal.

Kuppe, 21, worked as a camp counselor at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. Federal investigators said he likely had sexual contact with children at the summer camp in 2014 and 2015.

He pleaded not guilty to six counts of production, possession, receipt and distribution of child pornography.

Federal investigators said Kuppe took pictures of campers and sent them to a Russia-based child porn website.

Judge Avern Cohn has moved Kuppe's trial to April 4, 2016.
