Jeffrey Wells arrested on embezzlement charge

BERKLEY, Mich. – A former employee at Vinsetta Garage in Berkley has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $100,000 from the restaurant.

Berkley police said Jeffrey Wells started stealing money from Vinsetta in 2013. He stole more than $100,000 from the place between 2013 and 2015, according to police.

Wells, of Ferndale, was arrested back in December 2015 and pleaded guilty to embezzlement last week. He posted bond and is scheduled to be sentenced in March.

Vinsetta Garage, located at 11 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, is fashioned in an old auto repair shop. The shop was transformed into a restaurant about 5 years ago. It has become one of metro Detroit's most popular restaurants.
