Grosse Pointe Farms interior designer in critical condition after being stabbed

Daniel Clancy, 69, attacked Sunday afternoon

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. – A well-known interior designer is clinging to life after being attacked Sunday afternoon at his Grosse Pointe Farms home. 

Daniel Clancy, 69, had just returned from a shopping trip around 3 p.m. and was unloading his car when he was stabbed multiple times, Local 4 has learned. 

A passerby found him on a sidewalk on Voltaire Place and called 911, police said. 

Sources said he underwent surgery and is in critical condition. 

Police were on the scene for more than 12 hours. They have not yet released a description of anyone they might be looking for in connection to the attack. 

Clancy is listed as a designer for Perlmutter-Friwald Inc. According to the company, his work has been featured in national publications, on HGTV and he's been named "Designer of the Year" by Detroit Monthly Magazine.
