Police release sketch of suspect in Detroit infant's deadly shooting

Shooting that killed Miracle Murray was gang-related, police say

DETROIT – Detroit police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in the shooting death of a 6-month-old girl.

Miracle Murray died this past weekend when she was hit by gunfire outside her home on the city's west side. Two people Detroit police had been questioning in connection with the shooting have been released. Police released the attached sketch of a male suspect.

Police said she was outside with two other babies under 11 months and a 24-year-old man when the shooting happened.

Police said the shooting is related to a street gang and has ties to the Easter Sunday murder of a 3-year-old girl in Detroit.

Police took the two of the men into custody over the weekend, but now they’ve been released because police don’t have enough evidence. One of the men was questioned and released in both child murders. His girlfriend is providing him an alibi for Miracle's killing.

Miracle’s family told Local 4 they’re sure who they saw in a silver Saturn SUV moments before the shooting started.

Detroit Police Department's Homicide Division is asking for the public's help. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
