YPSILANTI, Mich. – Three 14-year-olds and a 13-year-old tried to carjack a pizza delivery driver using a plastic BB gun Monday night in an Ypsilanti neighborhood, police said.
The driver, who is a 55-year-old woman, said she was approached by the four teens after she pulled into a driveway for a delivery in the 300 block of S Huron Street, police said. One of the teens told her to get out, but she backed out and drove back to the restaurant.
Using descriptions given to them by the woman, police officers canvassed the area and found the four near Huron and Casler streets.
Police said the BB gun and a set of keys were found on the teens during a search. The keys belonged to belong to a Toyota Prius that was reported stolen on Sunday.
The four teens were taken to a juvenile facility.
Anyone with information on the teens or the stolen car is asked to call Ypsilanti police at 734-482-9847.
