Sex offender arrested for child pornography after posting videos, pictures online

Court documents show man used Twitter handle to upload images

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Federal agents raided a Garden City house and arrested a man on child pornography charges, and they say he is already a registered sex offender.

Ryan Fischer spent a lot of time online, but it's what the feds say he was doing while surfing the net that placed him in federal custody.

"We don't know him. We'd like to keep our children and neighborhood safe," Sue Stigler said.

Fischer was living with family at a home on Balmoral Street in Garden City.

Court documents show Fischer used a Twitter handle to upload nearly 100 child porn images.

"It makes me think, like, 'Wow,' and I live so close to him. I live four houses down," Andrew McKenzie said.

The federal probe started over a year ago. Twitter contacted authorities. The feds traced the IP address back to a house in Garden City. Agents moved in Thursday.

"We saw cops and undercover cars, and they had the garage door open," McKenzie said.

Neighbors are shocked by the arrest and to find out the 27-year-old is a convicted sex offender who moved from California.

"When you live that close, you should be notified so you can be made aware of it," Stigler said. "Not everyone goes online to see if there's a pedophile in their neighborhood."

Fischer told investigators "he didn't know exactly when he slipped back to looking at child porn but "It just happened."

Neighbors feel furious to learn he lived right across from a soccer field and public library.

"It's children here. Children walking the streets," Stigler said. "It's a community center. It's not just a library."
