Video: Juveniles target unlocked cars in Westland

Westland, Mich. – Westland police are urging residents to lock their car doors after video captured multiple juveniles "car hopping" through a neighborhood.

The Westland Police Department posted the video to their Facebook page saying:

The Westland Police are distributing this video in an effort to show how important it is to lock your car doors, and in an effort to identify anyone seen in the video. This incident occurred on the 30000 block of Lacy Dr.

As seen on this video, multiple juveniles go, “car hopping” and check multiple vehicle doors to see if they are unlocked. In this case, and in most cases, when the doors are locked they move on to another easier target. Unfortunately in this video you can see what happens to the victim that accidentally left his doors unlocked.

If you are able to identify the subject please contact the Westland Police Department at 734-722-9600, Detective Gazdecki at 734-467-3250, or leave a message with the Westland Police Community Partnership.

Please remember to lock your car doors!
