Pregnant woman, unborn child killed in Detroit shooting

DETROIT – A pregnant woman and her unborn child were killed in a shooting late Wednesday night on Detroit's west side.

Sources say the 21-year-old woman was shot on Crocuslawn Street near Meyers Road and West Chicago. She was found on the street at about 11 p.m. after her parents heard four or five gunshots.

The woman identified as Bionka Lyons.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, but both Lyons and the child died. She was seven months pregnant, according to her parents. The child would have been a boy.

A friend said she worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

No arrests have been made.
