Sketch released of man wanted in Westland armed robbery, sexual assault

Man robbed worker Sept. 9 at business near Wayne, Palmer roads

WESTLAND, Mich. – The Westland Police Department has released a sketch of a man wanted for armed robbery, sexual assault and car theft.

Westland police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man, who they said committed an armed robbery and sexual assault at a business in the area of Wayne and Palmer roads  around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9.

Police said the man went into the business and threatened an employee with a weapon, demanding money.  After getting the money, the man sexually assaulted the victim and stole her car, which was later recovered nearby, police said.

The man is described as 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 250-300 pounds. Police said he is "heavyset" with a scruffy beard. He was wearing a black T-shirt, gray gym shorts and a black "do-rag" style cloth over his head.
