CANTON, Mich. – A viral video taken inside a local Tim Horton’s has some people cringing – and for good reason.
The video taken by Ron Todd Tuesday night shows bugs crawling near food at the Tim Horton’s in Canton near Ford and Haggerty roads.
Todd said he stopped by the Tim Horton’s for tea and doughnuts when he noticed ant-like bugs crawling in the food display case.
“It look liked it could be some form of an ant crawling through the bagel and where all of the other baked goods were,” Todd said. “I was flabbergasted immediately, because this is a place I go all the time.”
When employees were alerted about the creepy-crawly situation, Todd says they didn’t take the time to investigate.
“He said ‘Sir, I’m sorry, I’m too busy,'” Todd said “So I said OK, since you’re too busy, I’ll take matters into my own hands.'”
In addition to calling the Health Department, Todd, who is a pastor and has thousands of followers, went live on Facebook. It didn’t take long for the video to go viral.

“I also followed up with Tim Horton’s here and made sure they knew what was going on and I was told that corporate was here this morning and they were taking a dish rag and were cleaning off the counters,” Todd said.
When Local 4 reached out to the Tim Horton’s in question, we received this response from the corporate office:
Food safety is a top priority for us and all of our restaurant owners. We take this matter seriously and are working with the Franchisee who independently owns and operates the restaurant, to resolve this situation immediately.”
As for Todd, he says he would come back if conditions improve.
“If they do get things cleaned up, I wouldn’t mind coming back,” Todd said. “But it would definitely be some time from now.”
The Health Department is closed until Tuesday, and could not be reached for comment.
