Trans-woman wanted in connection with first-degree arson in July

DETROIT – Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a trans-woman wanted in connection with an arson that occurred in Detroit’s Twelfth Precinct in July.

William James Carter, 36, is wanted on several warrants out of multiple jurisdictions and in connection to a first-degree arson.

Police said the arson happened July, 16, 2016 at about 10 a.m. in the 800 block of Merton Street on the city’s west side.

Many of the 30 units in the building were empty, but police believe Carter had knowledge that there were people inside the structure.

Carter is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and has a dark complexion.
