West Michigan school district cancels classes due to 1,900 students being sick
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – About 1,900 students in the Kalamazoo Public Schools district are sick, forcing the district to close all of its schools Friday.
The district released this statement, explaining the students were either sent home sick, absent or complaining of flu-like symptoms:
With approximately 1,900 children absent, sent home sick, or complaining of ill health with stomach related or flu-like symptoms today, the Kalamazoo Public Schools, after discussions with Kalamazoo County Health and Human Services, will close Friday, Feb. 24. The closure will allow Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for those that are sick to recover and will give KPS the opportunity to clean and disinfect buildings.
WOODTV reports the Climax-Scotts school district also canceled Friday classes due to student and staff illnesses.
